

Services provided in this area have included industry level pre-privatization services and company specific post-privatization strategic assessment and business planning support. In addition to the large clients, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have also been provided services in this area.
The services provided include:
- Strategic (and economic viability) assessment and planning on a cross functional basis (Production, Marketing, Organization structure, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Information Technology, etc.)
- Process and system re-engineering on a cross functional basis
- Training needs assessment and provision of training to help ensure proper succession planning
- Organizational development and integration of Human Resource processes
Representative Engagements
In pre-privatization Turkey, for Price Waterhouse -
Led the financial component of a World Bank funded Management Improvement Project for the fertilizer industry. The objective of the project was to take the first steps toward privatization of the industry. Major results of the financial component of the project included –
- Changed from “full absorption” costing to “modified standard direct” costing systems,
- Established responsibility center based budgeting and financial management reporting systems,
- Prepared systems requirements specifications and assisted in the evaluation and selection of EDP hardware and software,
- Modified the software to adapt it to the Turkish environment, and
- Prepared Accounting and EDP manuals and training materials and conducted training.
Directed a World Bank funded project to restructure the Turkish sugar industry. The project utilized consultants from British Sugar Development for technical production areas. The objective of the project was to build institutional capacity in the areas of:
- Personnel management and organization
- Finance and accounting
- Preventative maintenance and repair procedures
- Energy usage
- Quality control
- Pollution control
- Beet purchasing policies and procedures
In Uganda, for Price Waterhouse -
In a World Bank funded project for the Uganda Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, managed an institutional strengthening project in the areas of finance, corporate strategy and planning, and Management Information Systems. One of the more significant outputs of the project was the development of a revenue requirements model to be used as support for tariff setting.
