Employment History
Joined Price Waterhouse in Washington, DC in June 1969. After four years with Audit practice, transferred to Management Consulting Services staff. Promoted to position of Manger in the consulting practice. During this period, also taught accounting courses at Georgetown University at night.
After approximately three years with the Management Consulting Services practice, accepted a position as Chief Financial Officer with a client in Saudi Arabia and was employed there for three years. After fulfilling commitments in Saudi Arabia, returned to Washington, DC and worked for 2 ½ years as an independent management consultant.
In February 1982, rejoined Price Waterhouse and spent the next fourteen years (until June, 1996) in a variety of positions and countries with them, as follows:
- Managing Consultant, Ankara, Turkey
- Director of Management Consulting Services, Geneva, Switzerland
- Managing Consultant, Nairobi, Kenya (with country responsibility for Uganda)
- Director of Consultancy Services, Turkey, and
- Deputy Director, Corporate Finance, Recovery and Dispute Analysis, Moscow, Russia
Retired in 1996 and repatriated with wife to Virginia Beach. Now, as a widower, returned to the workplace. Fulfilled a three-year Continuing Professional Education requirement to get up-to-date and re-licensed as a CPA in the state of Virginia.
Deployed to Baghdad, Iraq on November 1, 2003 as Controller of large USAID funded project ($241.9 million over two years). Retained in various capacities by the same client in Baghdad until January 2007.
Work Experience
While working with the Audit staff of Price Waterhouse in Washington, DC, had a variety of clients including the World Bank, Southern Railroad (now Norfolk & Southern) and the Washington Post. Work with the Washington Post included the day-to-day management of the team for the Post's Initial Public Offering of stock.
The consulting experience spans approximately 20 years, of which approximately 17 years were in Directorial or Managerial positions in international postings. The assignments were primarily in the areas of project management; strategic management consulting; business restructuring and institution/capacity building, including pre and post privatization support services and assistance to SME's (Small-Medium Enterprises). The clients have been both public and private sector. The assignments have been in a variety of countries, including post-conflict environments.
